The project

A 1970s architecturally designed home, re-clad and opened up while keeping the lines that made it worth saving.

The brief

Remove the existing cladding, remediate the leaky structure and give the home a refreshed exterior in two complementary claddings, while respecting the original architecture.

This 1970s home had weathertightness problems. The job began with removing all of the existing cladding and remediating the structure underneath, then re-cladding in two complementary styles that sit comfortably with the original architectural lines.

The interior was opened up for better flow, with extensions to the living areas and kitchen. A new kitchen, new linings and herringbone flooring throughout give it a consistent finish.

New double glazed joinery and a full electrical upgrade bring the house up to current standards without losing the character that made it worth keeping.

What was done

  • External joinery replaced with double glazing
  • Shared spaces opened up for open plan living
